Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah (“Dato Dr Amin”) was appointed as the Minister at The Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II on 27 September 2018 and re-appointed on 7th June 2022, and before that was holding the position of the Minister of Finance II from 30 January 2018.  Prior to these appointments, Dato Dr Amin was the Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment), while holding the CEO position of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd (“DA”), an investment holding company owned by the Minister For Finance Corporation, Brunei Darussalam.  Before joining DA, Dato Dr Amin held several key positions with the Brunei Government, including being appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and the Managing Director of the Brunei Investment Agency.

Prior to his tenure with the Brunei Government, Dato Dr Amin worked as a Crude Oil Trader with Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd in the mid-nineties after returning from the United Kingdom where he worked for ICI Finance PLC as a research analyst in the late eighties / early nineties.

Dato Dr Amin currently serves on the boards of many Brunei Government linked companies in diverse sectors including telecommunications, medical services, hospitality, oil and gas, information technology and education.

Dato Dr Amin graduated with a First Class Bachelor degree from Queen Mary College, University of London in 1984 and both a Master degree in 1989 and a PhD degree in 1993 from Imperial College, University of London. Dato Dr Amin also holds a professional qualification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 2004. He is also a member of CFA Singapore.

Dato Dr Amin holds the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei (Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Berbahagia - ‘PSNB’) and the Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei - ‘SPMB’).

Mr. Haji Ibnu Shahrinuddin bin Haji Ibrahim is currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director of the Employee Trust Fund (TAP), Brunei Darussalam, officially appointed on June 13, 2024. He began his journey with TAP on April 1, 2015, as the Executive Manager of the Information Technology (IT) Department and on June 15, 2021, he assumed the role of Executive Manager for the Corporate Services Department, overseeing Human Resources, Administration, and IT.

Prior to joining TAP, Mr. Haji Ibnu served as Senior System Analyst at the e-Government National Centre (EGNC), where he gained extensive experience in developing IT strategies and project management in the public sector.

In his current role, he supports the strategic leadership and overall administration of TAP. He is instrumental in ensuring operational efficiency, long-term sustainability, and alignment with Brunei’s socio-economic objectives. Mr. Haji Ibnu plays a vital role in policy formulation, promoting innovation, and strengthening stakeholder relations to further TAP’s mission of securing the financial well-being of its members.

Songpol Chevapanyaroj is currently working at the Government Pension Fund (GPF) – Thailand as Secretary General.

His professional career spans almost 25 years in both global and local banks: Citi, Kasikornbank and Krung Thai bank.

Prior to joining  the GPF, he was President of  the Deposit Protection Agency – Thailand. He has also been appointed a board director of many listed and state enterprises. He holds an MBA in finance from Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.

RENTONY GIBE is the Senior Vice President and Head of Fund Management at the Philippine Social Security System (SSS), overseeing over PHP 1 trillion in assets across multiple public funds, including the Social Security Fund, Employees Compensation Fund, and Provident Funds. With nearly three decades of experience, he now leads the formulation and execution of investment strategies to ensure financial sustainability and optimal returns for millions of Filipino members. Prior to this, he served as Vice President for Risk Management, where he spearheaded the development of enterprise-wide risk frameworks across financial, operational, and demographic exposures.

His career spans key leadership roles in actuarial science, research, and product development, anchoring policy reforms and benefit design within the Philippine pension landscape. He has represented SSS in high-level dialogues with legislators, social security institutions, and international partners on sustainable pensions, social protection, and actuarial innovations. His integrated background across actuarial modeling, risk oversight, and strategic fund deployment provides him with a unique lens in navigating the evolving challenges of long-term pension sustainability in the ASEAN region.

Tashya is currently Head of International Sales for ASEAN and Taiwan within the Global Sales & Origination unit at the Singapore Exchange (SGX). In her role, she is responsible for driving SGX’s multi-asset class strategy and promoting secondary market activity in SGX’s cash equities and equities derivatives markets for ASEAN and Taiwan.

Prior to her current role, she was Head of Members Sales & Relations, where she is responsible for driving institutional engagement through Members of the Exchange. Before her stint with the business units in SGX, she was with Member Supervision, supervising Members of the Exchange. Passionate about the use of technology in supervision, she led the Regulatory Innovation team in SGX and was responsible for driving innovation in Regulation. Before joining SGX, Tashya spent several years in JP Morgan, Citibank Singapore and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) focusing on financial institutions in the Capital Markets Intermediaries sector.

Passionate about coaching and helping people realize their potential, she is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), certified by the International Coach Federation since 2018. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and holds a certificate on Artificial Intelligence from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Farah Amer Hishamuddin, Senior Credit Analyst & ESG Lead: Farah Amer Hishamuddin is a Senior Credit Analyst at BIBD Asset Management, where she is responsible for bottom-up credit analysis of sukuk issuers and macroeconomic research on global financial markets. Since joining the firm in 2021, she has played a key role in advancing BIBD AM’s ESG strategy and currently serves as the firm’s ESG Specialist. Farah holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Econometrics with First Class Honours from the University of Bristol. She is also a holder of the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing. She authored a research paper titled “The Integration of ESG in Islamic Asset Management – A Practical Approach,” published in the Islamic Economics International Refereed Journal (iECO) Special Issue, June 2024.

Norfazrina Zaini is a Portfolio Manager for Listed Debt Strategy at the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA). She joined BIA in 2007, beginning her career as a Japan macro and rates analyst. She later served as Head of Performance & Market Risk for over eight years, where she led initiatives in investment performance reporting, risk management, and compliance oversight. Over the course of her tenure, Norfazrina has been actively involved in a range of strategic projects, including the Agency’s strategic asset allocation review. She also played a key role in piloting the execution of a risk-based investment strategy. Norfazrina holds the CFA Institute Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) and earned the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designation from PRMIA in 2022. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester.

Denis Cole is a Principal and Portfolio Specialist for PGIM Fixed Income's Emerging Markets Debt Team with over 14 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the Firm in 2020, Mr. Cole was a portfolio manager for Gramercy Funds Management’s Emerging Markets Debt Team. At Gramercy, he was a member of the firm’s investment committee as well as the sovereign and corporate debt committees. Prior to Gramercy, Mr. Cole worked at Nexar Capital Group and LaBranche Structured Products. Mr. Cole received a BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Charles is a member of the investment team and covers both equity and fixed income markets. He is responsible for the management of equity and balanced portfolios which include Asian and global focused mandates and a family office fund. Charles joined the PhillipCapital Group in 2007 and has extensive experience in securities dealing and portfolio management. He has been a licensed fund manager since 2012 and managed various discretionary equity mandates prior to joining Phillip Capital Management (S) Ltd. Charles has a diploma in investment from the Institute of Banking and Finance.

Sue Lee is Director and APAC Head of Index Investment Strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). The group provides research and commentary on S&P DJI’s entire product set, including U.S. and global equities, fixed income, commodities and economic indices.

Prior to joining S&P DJI in 2023, Sue worked as an equity derivatives strategist at Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan, where she published market analyses and trade ideas for the Asia Pacific region. She also worked for a family office in Hong Kong where she managed a multi-asset portfolio.

Sue is a CFA charterholderand holds a master’s degree in financial engineering from University of California at Berkeley, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business from Seoul National University.

Lee is Senior Advisor to the President, the Office of President, in AIIB. During 2016-2024, Lee led the Investment Operations (Region 1) Banking Department, responsible for financial intermediaries (FI), structured financial products, capital markets, private equity, ICT and other productive sectors. Before joining AlIB in 2016, Lee was Corporate Advisor for Temasek, Singapore and Russia Direct Investment Fund, Russia. From 2008 to 2013, he worked for Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Alternative Investments, responsible for managing KIC's USD75 billion global assets. Before that, he spent five years as Head of Investments at STIC Investments, a private equity/venture capital firm in Korea. From 1997 to 2001, he was Head of the Overseas Investments Team at Samsung Life Insurance. From 1987 to 1997, Lee worked as an Emerging Equity Market Analyst at the International Finance Corporation. He has a bachelor's degree in economics from Korea University, an MBA in finance and investments and an MS in management information systems, both from George Washington University. Lee is from the Republic of Korea.

Geoffrey Williams is Founder and Director of Williams Business Consultancy Sdn Bhd specialising in economics, sustainability and higher education management. He is a Visiting Research Fellow at Bank Negara Malaysia and a Visiting Fellow at Universiti Malaya.

A graduate of the University of Cambridge, he has held academic positions at the London Business School, Pembroke College University of Oxford and the University of London.

Until April 2024 he was Provost for Research and Innovation at the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), Senior Fellow at the Malaysian Institute for Economic Research (MIER) and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2004.

Geoffrey created the SRI-Kehati Sustainability Index for the Indonesian Stock Exchange and the Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Blueprint for the Malaysian Government. In 2017 he was honoured with the Lifetime Contribution Award for his work on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability around the world.

Recent books include Responsible Management in Asia – Perspectives on CSR (Palgrave-Macmillan) and Advancing Innovation and Sustainable Outcomes in International Graduate Education, with Mohan Raj Gurubatham (IGI Global, Pennsylvania). He appears daily in the media and is a columnist with Free Malaysia Today.

Ms. Nopnuanparn Pavasant currently serves as Assistant Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Thailand, where she leads the strategic direction of financial innovation. She is responsible for overseeing the Digital Financial Innovation Department, the Digital Asset Policy Department, and the Digital Asset Supervision Department.

Since joining the SEC in May 2005, Ms. Pavasant has played a pivotal role in modernizing Thailand’s capital market regulatory framework. She was instrumental in the sixth amendment to the Securities and Exchange Act B.E. 2535 (1992), enacted in 2019, which laid the foundation for the development of FinTech in Thailand. She also contributed to the promulgation of the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses B.E. 2561 (2018), the key legislation governing digital asset fundraising and business operations in the country.

Ms. Pavasant holds LL.M. degrees from Chulalongkorn University and the University of Cambridge, and a Doctor of Legal Science (SJD) from the University of Hong Kong. As Thai Barrister-at-Law since 2003, she previously practiced law at PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal & Tax Consultants (Thailand) Ltd. Her distinguished career reflects a deep commitment to fostering innovation while upholding market integrity and investor protection.

Brian Wong brings over 20 years of expertise in wealth management and investment services, with a distinguished career spanning regional and international financial institutions. As General Manager of Baiduri Capital and Head of Wealth Management at Baiduri Bank, Brian drives the Bank’s strategy in delivering innovative investment solutions and holistic financial planning services tailored to the evolving needs of retail and high net-worth clients.

Under his leadership, Baiduri Bank has expanded its wealth management proposition to include purpose-driven solutions such as high-yield savings products that encourage sustainable saving behaviours, an integrated investment trading platform, and advisory-led retirement planning services. His customer-centric approach is grounded in the belief that financial empowerment is key to long-term wellbeing.

Brian is also a member of Baiduri Bank Group’s Sustainability Committee, where he plays an active role in advancing the Bank’s ESG agenda. He champions responsible and ethical investing, aligning wealth management strategies with sustainability principles to meet the expectations of a new generation of investors.

Prior to joining Baiduri Bank, Brian headed the Brunei operations of a regional investment bank, managing portfolio relationships across asset management, treasury, debt capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions, including provision of Syariah-compliant financial solutions for clients in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Brian holds a Master of Science in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Bayes Business School, City St George University of London, and a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from Loughborough University.

 

Fuad Bohari, Digital Innovation and CX Lead: Fuad joined BIBD Securities in 2021 as a Product Development Officer where he leads the retail product development cycle, conduct client data analysis and CX initiatives. In addition, he also supports the BIBDS sales team by providing timely and relevant market insights to form consistent messaging across all sales channels. Fuad graduated from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Economics and Econometrics and is a CMSRL License Holder.

Mariam Veronica Bt Abu Bakkar Seddek (“Mariam”) is currently the Director, Group Head Institutional and Islamic Asset Management of Kenanga Investors Berhad (“KIB”).

As Director, Group Head Institutional and Islamic Asset Management, she is responsible for driving the business of both the Institutional and Islamic Asset Management business of Kenanga Investors Group. Since 2014, her main role is to grow institutional business by acquiring, retaining and servicing the company’s clients ranging from the Government Link Companies, Government Agencies, Multi-National Corporations and corporate clients, amongst others.

Mariam brings with her over 20 years of extensive experience in the areas of asset management, unit trust and audit. Her work experience includes the Securities Commission Malaysia, her experiences in the United Kingdom as well as in one of the top asset management companies in Malaysia.

Mariam is a Shariah Registered Financial Planner and holds a Capital Markets Services Representative's License. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Wales Cardiff, United Kingdom.
